Researchers in Sweden set out to see if continuing back pain after pregnancy was linked with hyper mobility. One of the tests used in the trial was how far the women could bend their left little fingers back. Most women become more flexible in pregnancy as joints become more mobile but the study found those with hypermobile joints were more likely to have pain continue post birth especially if they had several pregnancies. It showed the women whose fingers bent back the most were the ones to have continuing pain post birth. This study was aimed at trying to find prevention strategies. I would say that strategy is Pilates, specific and taught by an experienced professional. PhysioPilates provides a tool box of strategies to carry on into life with young children and beyond.
